Superintendent of the Securities Market for the period 2015-2019. She was a board member of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO); Vice Chair of the IOSCO Inter-American Committee; member of the National Council for Gender Parity; Commissioner of the High-Level Commission for International and Financial Services; Commissioner of the National Commission against Money Laundering. Marelissa also served as a former advisor to the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for the regulation of the Securities Market Law of Panama.

In the private sector, she was a legal advisor for MMG Bank Corporation and MMG Asset Management, part of the Morgan & Morgan Group.
